The organizers of Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) reality TV show, says its 2019 edition will commence in March, after the general elections.
Get D’ Gist learned that the commencement date was disclosed by a source at the official sponsors of the reality show, Payporte, who preferred to be kept anonymous.
Get D’ Gist reports that the commencement date is slightly different from last year’s edition which commenced in January with Miracle emerging winner of the contest.
However, due to the forthcoming Presidential elections next month and Gubernatorial elections in early March, the show’s organizers decided to pause the anticipated reality TV show.
“Big Brother Naija will still hold but because it’s a political year, we can’t really control to what extent what the housemates will say in the house and we don’t want it to become a tool that will heat up the politics.
“The show itself ordinarily gets twisted so we don’t want to mix it up with politics in any way.
“It’s supposed to be entertaining, we wouldn’t want it to be divisive in any way.
The source additionally stated “If you notice, no religious activity gets discussed in the house also. If you want to pray you can pray. We don’t want anyone to be forced to do it or divide Nigeria along those lines. So after the elections and inaugurations, it’ll happen.”
