Minister Of Budget And National Planning Assures 3.01% Economy Growth


The Federal Government through the Minister of budget and national planning, Senator Udo Idoma has said that the nations economy will grow by 3.01% this year contrary to a forecast of 2% by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in its world economic outlook update said in January the Nigeria’s economy will expand more slowly in 2019 than previously predicted against backdrop of the recent drop of global crude oil prices. But Idoma said the proposed 2019 budget was intended to further reposition the economy on the path of faster, inclusive, diversify and sustainable growth as well as to continue to leave significant numbers of Nigerian’s out of poverty.

The minister while speaking in Lagos added the Deloitte dialogue on Nigeria’s economy outlook on 2019, said the inflation rate is expected to trend downwards to single digit of 9.98% in 2019 from 11.44% as of December 2018.
